Joanne & James tied the knot in a summer wedding at the stylish hotel on a ‘typical’ Mancunian summer day! This was our first time as a Oddfellows on the Park wedding photographer in Cheadle just south of Manchester and we’ll be pleased to return.
Oddfellows on the Park Wedding Venue
Oddfellows on the Park is a boutique hotel wedding venue set in the grounds of Bruntwood Park in Manchester. Bruntwood Park is popular with visitors coming to enjoy the grounds, play facilities and Victorian conservatory restaurant. The hotel sits in the centre of the park and came as something of a surprise when we first met Joanne and James there earlier in the summer – the attention to detail with modern and original features make this feel boutique and an oasis from the rest of the bustling park. Having rooms to stay in before and after the ceremony always ensure guests are relaxed and the Tower Suite is excellent for bridal preparations with a light and airy space which is perfect to photograph the bridal party at their best!
James and Joanne’s day
The bridal party were a pleasure to work with and provided so many moments to photograph at Oddfellows. They all enjoyed themselves from dawn to dusk with non-stop laughter and singing! Literally, I’ve never heard so many ‘unique’ songs – I can only imagine what the hen do was like! Joanne looked amazing in her dress and couldn’t wait to tie the knot.
The ceremony space is fantastic with an ornate wooden fireplace and decorative ceiling enhancing the tasteful details of the venue dressing. James managed to keep his nerves in check and looked delighted as Joanne walked down the aisle. A mid-afternoon monsoon put paid to the confetti photography plans but guests realised this and showered them as they retreated down the aisle. I know venues don’t always want this but it does make for great photos! Apologies to whoever had to hoover up before the group photographs!
The clouds part
It took until the evening for the Manchester weather to play ball and we managed to get the couple outdoors for their couples photographs. Joanne’s dress was one of my favourite of the year so it was a shame the ground was still soaking but there are some lovely areas around the hotel to get those all important images and they both looked great in the evening light.
We really enjoyed our day as Oddfellows on the Park wedding photographers and have to thank all the staff throughout the day – they were so helpful to us. It was really noticeable how much care they took and how much attention they paid to guests. Victoria and her team can take a bow!
